Water

Water’s energy is visceral, yet it emotes something we cannot grasp with our senses alone. Even in still images, I can hear the waves tearing and crashing, the surf hissing and fizzing. I can hear the ripples lapping, and I imagine what light might sound like as it shimmers.

Many of these photographs of waves were taken in northern California during February storms. The images of ripples were taken variously in southern California and along the coast of Maine.
